I started doing CrossFit in August of '04, thanks to some needling by Brand X Students (Jason and Ricky) and Jeff Martin. I've never looked back. If look at me and say, well, of course YOU can do it, you are a maniac, then that is the beauty of CrossFit at work. Start doing CrossFit and in 6 months time, YOU will be the YOU that YOU looked at in AWE and perhaps a little skepticism. Please sign my GuestBook

Learning a new kip - the fast kind!
20 kipping pull ups in 36 seconds.
hmmmm
If i could do that for 5 sets - 1 set each minute, I might could get 100 pull ups in 5 minutes.....
hmmmmm

OK maybe I'm stupid---I've read all the explanations on crossfit.com & watched a few videos too, but I still don't understand exactly what kipping a pullup is or anything else for that matter? duh! (altho it does sound like fun!)
haha! It's really hard to explain. It has to do with creating an explosive motion (range is broad...from swing to a frog kick) to get your body moving upward toward the bar. You've seen the videos? There is one in which Eva Twardokens explains it very nicley. I'll try to find it later. Some people call it cheating. ;)
oh that's the way I do pullups normally ha ha! so this motion is when you're already on the bar as opposed to a jumping pullup or is it all the same thing. When I do pullups which is usually at the schoolyard jungle gym when there's no kids around to laugh at me, I do them from a dead hang. When I lived in Florida in 2003-04 I could do 8 with palms out--now I'm lucky if I can 4 weak ones. I love getting old!!

" so this motion is when you're already on the bar as opposed to a jumping pullup or is it all the same thing. "
It is different than the jumping pull ups. You hang from the bar and use your shoulders and hips to generate the movement. Looking for the link.
Psycho boy....
